Why we follow a federal standard

NIST Special Publication 800-88 is the federal standard for securely removing data from storage media. It gives organizations clear guidelines so sensitive information cannot be recovered from devices being repurposed, recycled, or disposed of.

The standard defines three sanitization levels—Clear, Purge, and Destroy—based on how sensitive your data is and what happens to the device next. We follow it so your customer data, financials, and personal details can't be recovered once the laptop is recycled or handed off.

How we wipe your devices

We securely wipe your laptop so data is unrecoverable, even with special tools. If we receive non-functional equipment, we will destroy it. Either way, your data is gone.

Sanitization levels

NIST 800-88 defines three methods. We choose the right one for your data and how the device will be used next.

Clear

Logical erasure of data in all user-accessible storage. Appropriate when the device stays within your organization.

Purge

Methods that make recovery infeasible, even with lab-grade tools. Required when devices leave your control.

Destroy

Physical destruction of storage media. The strongest option for highly sensitive data or media that cannot be sanitized.

Data that's
really gone.

Deleting files or formatting a drive only removes pointers to where data lives—recovery tools can still retrieve it. NIST 800-88 gives us a verifiable way to make that data permanently gone.

  • Stay in line with federal and industry rules

  • Reduce the risk of data breaches and identity theft

  • Limit legal exposure when devices leave your control

  • Recycle hardware responsibly

  • Get documentation and certificates for your records and audits
